Ward Boundary Review

Participate in the Board of Trustees' Ward Boundary Review Survey before December 9, 2016.

Call For Action

Rocky View Schools’ Board of Trustees is reaching out to its electors as part of a review of electoral ward boundaries. The review is in keeping with the Board’s desire to ensure good governance and to examine the Board’s electoral representation across the jurisdiction.

As of January 2013 the total population of the region was approximately 122,220; by 2015 the population of the region had grown to 145,363. This growth has seen uneven distribution of population across the jurisdiction.

Public Meetings

Alberta School Boards Association Education Consultant Brian Callaghan has been retained to lead the review. He will make recommendations to RVS’ Board of Trustees at its December 2016 Board meeting, based on consultation feedback.

As part of the review, Callaghan will be holding a series of town hall style meetings to share a variety of options and gather feedback. The public is invited to attend any of the face-to-face public meetings scheduled for:

  • Cochrane & Area @ RancheView School - November 29, 7:00 to 8:30pm
  • Chestermere & Area @ Chestermere High School - November 30, 7:00 to 8:30pm
  • Springbank & Area @ Springbank Middle School - December 5, 7:00 to 8:30pm
  • Airdrie & Area @ Education Centre  - December 8, 7:00 to 8:30pm

The review, inclusive of public consultation, will be completed by February 2017. Changes, if any would be in effect for the next municipal election in October 2017.

Feedback Wanted

The public is invited to review the options under consideration (public meeting powerpoint) and provide feedback online via Ward Boundary Review Survey. The survey is open from November 7 to December 9, 2016.
