A form for volunteer parents at Banded Peak is sent home at the beginning of the year. We would be grateful for your help. If you are aware of community members who do not have children attending our school but who have some time and/or special talents/interest to share with our students, please invite them to contact us – their support and involvement would be very welcome.
To maintain the integrity of the learning environment in the classroom, we would like to request that parents volunteering in the classrooms not bring pre-school children.
Volunteers are asked to sign in at the office and pick up a volunteer badge to be worn while in the school.
In addition, all parents/community members interested in volunteering at Banded Peak are required to complete and submit a vulnerable sector check from the RCMP. Letters and information are provided to all parents at the beginning of the school year and are available through the school office.
]]>We are working in a number of ways to make students, teachers, parents, and facility users aware that there may be students with severe allergies in our school. These efforts include:
At Banded Peak we have a number of students who are highly allergic to nuts or products containing nuts. Exposure to these allergens may result in the student going into anaphylactic shock. Anaphylactic shock is a sudden, severe and sometimes fatal allergic response to a trigger substance such as food, vaccines, or drugs. It may cause decreased blood pressure, dilation of capillaries or constriction of the airway. As a result of these severe reactions we request that you do not send peanut or nut products to school with your child in lunches, for snack, bakes sales or classroom celebrations.
We appreciate your support and would welcome any feedback you may have.

Regular attendance and punctuality are essential to ensure your child’s continuing academic progress. If your child is going to be absent or late, please contact the school (949-2292) at ext. 300 prior to 8:00 AM and leave a message containing the following information:
Whenever possible, please try to schedule medical and dental appointments outside of school hours or on professional development days. Should you find it necessary to remove your child for appointments during the school day, we would appreciate you sending a note to the teacher that day. Before leaving the school, please enter your child’s name in the sign-out book and sign-in the appropriate column located at the school office. Our purpose is to ensure the welfare of your child at all times. An adult must come into the office to sign out a child. Children are not permitted to meet you in the parking lot.
We encourage you to schedule vacations during days already allotted for holidays. We understand that from time to time families go on vacations during school days. Responsibility for the decision and for any impact on the student’s progress must rest with the parents. Please discuss the extended period of absence with your child’s teacher, and also inform the school office of the dates your child will be absent. Teachers are not obligated to provide instructional materials for students due to extended family holidays.
If a student becomes ill at school he/she can rest in the infirmary (located in the office area) for a brief time until it is determined if he/she is able to return to class or if the parent should be notified. Parents will always be contacted if the illness or injury is deemed serious. We should be made aware of any medical problems so that we are best able to assist a student in the event of an emergency.
